Dr. Jonathan Fitzgerald, Ph.D., Vice-President of Program Management, Torque Therapeutics in the USA: Mentor in the 2018 CCRM Australia-IMNIS International Mentoring Program (Regenerative Medicine)

Dr. Jonathan Fitzgerald is a seasoned leader with 13 years experience in the biotech industry, applying cutting-edge research methods to translate discoveries into new medicines. Dr. Fitzgerald currently works at Torque Therapeutics, a startup oncology drug development company in the biotech hub of Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. Torque is developing nanoparticle enhanced immune cell-based therapies for treating cancer. Jonathan’s role is to coordinate the effort to file an Investigational New Drug (IND) and bring a new therapeutic approach into clinical testing. After completing his PhD at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Biological Engineering, Dr. Fitzgerald spent 13 years working in industry in roles spanning discovery, lead selection, clinical development and product launch. Jonathan is most interested in developing and testing new drugs in the clinic and performing translational research to identify patients who will benefit the most. Dr. Fitzgerald is experienced in building productive collaborations with external research, clinical and business partners, and excels at applying systems-based approaches to solve complex problems.
