Yun Luo, mentee in the 2020-21 program in NSW (UNSW).
Before commencing her PhD research at UNSW in 2019, Yun has worked in public health since 2002. Her 17 years’ of experience in microbiological and molecular researches of diarrheal pathogens such as Salmonella, Vibrio cholerae and Clostridium difficile have given her a strong foundation and keen interest in research.
Yun’s PhD projects will use genomic technologies to understand the genetic diversity of Vibrio cholerae and develop early warning surveillance for potential pandemics and a broad understanding of the risks posed by multidrug resistance in cholera. The outcomes of her projects will reduce the impact of the disease on human health, in particular this disease affects the most impoverished regions and communities.
