IMNIS Mentee Ye Jun (Jay) In

Ye Jun (Jay) In is a PhD candidate at The University of Sydney in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. After completing his Bachelor of Engineering Honours from the same school, he joined Material and Mineral Processing Research Unit at the school as a research assistant. Since then, Jay has been working on various water and wastewater infrastructure-related projects, particularly condition assessment, material testing and rehabilitation.

While working, he was offered a scholarship to participate in Cooperative Research Centres Project ‘Smart Linings for Pipe and Infrastructure’ for sub-project 2B (wastewater) led by Professor Marjorie Valix as a PhD candidate. The project aims to facilitate the implementation of innovative cementitious liners for extending the service life of deteriorating wastewater infrastructures by rehabilitation. As part of the project, Jay’s PhD research evaluates various durability aspects of wastewater infrastructures after their rehabilitation with the cementitious liners by investigating their adhesion behaviour.
