Upekha Liyanage, mentee in the 2018 MedTech-Pharma program in QLD (The University of Queensland)

Upekha is currently studying for a PhD in Statistical Genetics in School of Medicine, University of Queensland and QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, Brisbane, Australia. She is currently working in Biostatistics field, as her research interests are identifying the novel genetic variants associated with skin cancer risk and survival. She completed Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. After graduation, she has worked as a Medical Doctor in Ministry of Health in Sri Lanka before moving in to Australia. Upekha has a strong passion for teaching and she has been working as a casual academic in School of Medicine, University of Queensland. Upekha joined the imnis mentorship programme to explore the possibilities of meditech/ pharma industry, which she is extremely passionate in joining after completing her PhD.
