Rouven Becker, mentee in the 2019 MedTech-Pharma program in SA (The University of Adelaide)

In 2015 Rouven Becker received his bachelor degree in Chemical Biology from the Technical University in Dortmund (Germany). This included a 12 month placement in the R&D department of Evonik Industries, Germany’s second biggest chemical company, where he worked on the enzymatic synthesis of products for the cosmetic industry.

He subsequently completed his master degree in Chemistry at Saarland University (Germany) in collaboration with the Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research in Saarbruecken (Germany). During his master’s studies Rouven successfully completed Medicinal Chemistry research projects at various institutes in Australia, Germany and the United Kingdom.

In 2018 he returned to Australia to join the University of Adelaide as a PhD candidate in Chemistry with a strong focus on Medicinal Chemistry. His current research includes the design, development and optimisation of new non-hormonal contraceptive compounds and anti-diabetic drugs.
