Rasheed Adewale, mentee in the 2019 MedTech-Pharma program in VIC (The University of Melbourne)

I’m Currently a 2nd year Ph.D. Student at the Chemical Engineering Department of Melbourne University with a research focus on gas-phase chemical kinetics and dynamics, I am also a Casual Academic tutor providing workshop demonstration and academic tutorials to final year and master’s level chemical engineering students. I held a Graduate Research & Teaching Assistant position during my MS Chemical Program, and I take pride in my contribution to the improvement of the CGPA, through academic tutelage, of two of my colleagues during my undergraduate program.

As a Reservoir Engineer at the Technology Deployment Division of the Abu Dhabi Maritime Operation Company, I combined sound technical knowledge with forward-looking business strategy. Working across these disciplines, I identified, designed and executed technological projects to strengthen the company’s business portfolio. In achieving this, I conducted LPG optimization studies on water alternating gas injection in oil reservoirs, process designs, process data collection and flow assurance studies, all in compliance with the company’s HSE policies. This followed a technically demanding role with The Petroleum Institute in Abu Dhabi, where I solved problems in sour/acid gas processing, energy management, environmental safety, and operational optimization.

I have achieved these through my curious approach to education, scoring distinctions across my Chemical Engineering track to my ongoing Ph.D. Beyond my natural abilities, I am driven by a passion hinged on the knowledge that mankind is constantly in search of more efficient approaches to problem-solving.
