Melanie Heinlein is a late stage PhD candidate at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research/ the University of Melbourne studying ways to protect the immune system in cancer patients. She is originally from Germany, where she underwent training in Molecular Medicine (BSc and MSc) at the Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg. After finishing her Masters and before starting her PhD with Prof Andreas Strasser and Ass/Prof Daniel Gray at WEHI, she worked at the Oncology Department at Novartis Institutes of BioMedical Research in Basel, Switzerland. Melanie is mentored by Andrew.
