Md Tariqul Hasan, mentee in the 2019 Energy-Minerals Resources program in NSW (UNSW)
Mr. Md Tariqul Hasan received his BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Bangladesh and MSc at University of Ulsan, South Korea. He also worked as an assistant Director in one of the most renowned Engineering company in Bangladesh. Now he is currently pursuing his PhD supervised by Associate Professor Runyu Yang at University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.
Currently, he is working on Finite Element Modeling of Briquetting of iron-ore coal particles. Brown coal, often referred to as lignite, is a low-cost and abundant resource in Australia. It has a potential to produce lignite-iron ore composite briquettes (LIBs) as a new low-cost burden material in iron making blast furnaces (BFs). His FEA model will be used to analyze the failure and yielding phenomena of powder compacts and the three-dimensional nature of strain and stress fields in briquetting.
He presented his work at ‘The 2nd International Symposium on Computational Particle Technology’ held on 4-8 December 2018, Melbourne. He also published an article on his work at Powder Technology. (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.powtec.2019.05.026).
