IMNIS Mentee Kavisha (Kav) Fernando

Kav is a second year PhD candidate in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne. His thesis is on personalising neurostimulation therapies (deep brain stimulation and transcranial magnetic stimulation) for OCD using brain MRI/connectomics. He has a neuroscience background but he thoroughly enjoys the computational side of things and extracting novel insights from large datasets. He is also passionate about making real-world impact, which has influenced his PhD thesis, as well as, motivated me to co-found a start-up, aimed at using smart home technology to provide meaningful and beneficial insights for people experiencing mental health difficulties.
