Jack Everson, mentee in the 2019 MedTech-Pharma program in QLD (Griffith University)
My current education is a BSc Hon Majoring in Chemistry. My research and interest mostly resides in the synthesis of organic compounds.
My PhD thesis is titled, ‘Ulosonic Acid Synthesis’ in which my overarching goal is to develop a method for the easy and affordable synthesis of a range of sugars referred to as the tetradeoxynonulosonic acids (including compounds such as pseudaminic acid). These sugars are only found in certain types of gram negative bacteria and have been shown to be associated with motility and virulence.
