Huong Ly Tong, mentee in the 2020-21 program in NSW (Macquarie University)
I am a curious learner and I love using my critical thinking and problem-solving skills to help people improve their health.
I have a background in Public Health. I completed a Bachelor of Health, a Master of Research in Health Informatics, and I am now doing a PhD in Artificial Intelligence. My PhD looks at how to use technologies like mobile apps, fitness trackers and social media to promote health behaviour change. I have 5+ years experience working in research roles, lecturing and tutoring in Health Promotion and Epidemiology. My key strengths are project management, critical thinking and analysis, communication, and working in multidisciplinary teams.
I am interested in a range of roles, such as in research and development or consulting where I can work with technology company and use my knowledge and skillset to develop solutions for health. I am also interested in science communication i.e. translate scientific terminology and findings into something that can be easily understood by the general public.
