
IMNIS Mentee Georgia Symons
Georgia is a final year PhD candidate in the Monash Trauma Group in the Department of Neuroscience, Central Clinical School, Monash University.
Her work focuses on the neurological consequences of engaging in Australian rules football. She has investigated biochemical, structural and cognitive biomarkers in amateur Australian rules footballers.
She is interested in how multimodal biomarkers may help to better inform diagnosis, recovery and return to play decisions following a concussion as well as monitor chronic neurological changes associated with playing contact sport.
Outside of her PhD Georgia has interests in science education, watching and playing sports such as basketball, and loves to try new recipes in the kitchen.
