
Cindy Hsin Yee Tee, mentee in the 2020-21 program in VIC (Monash University)
Cindy is a second-year PhD candidate at Hudson Institute of Medical Research under Monash Graduate Scholarship to pursue her postgraduate study in Australia in 2019. She received B.Sc (Honours) and B.Sc (Biotechnology & Medical Bioscience) from Monash University Malaysia in 2018 and 2016.
The topic of her PhD project is on haemoglobinopathies, with the focus of fine-tuning existing gene therapy vector system to better target patient cohorts which don’t respond well to the current gene therapy in clinical trials. She is eager in learning how to bridge the industry-academia gap, specifically how to stay relevant and engaged with the industry while being in academia currently. As an avid postgraduate scientist, she believes in active learning as the perpetual force in the global education scale with the personal motto of “learning how to learn”. Post-PhD, she is keen in industry roles that are relevant to clinical trials and medical communication specialists.
