IMNIS Mentee Andrew Miller
Andrew’s PhD project involves material development of space grade materials using 3D printing. He is developing an Invar (Fe-Ni alloy) composite to improve strength without effecting the thermal properties. He also spends some time with Melbourne Space Program in mentor role for undergraduate engineers.
Andrew graduated aerospace engineering at RMIT before spending a decade working across several design, analysis, and manufacturing engineering roles in automotive and aerospace. This has been in both large OEM (Ford) and small consultancies. He returned to study to pursue his curiosity/passion, make a move into research-based roles and for increased flexibility with family commitments.
