Amal Abdulrahman, mentee in the 2019 MedTech-Pharma program in NSW (Macquarie University)

Amal is a Ph.D. student at Macquarie University sponsored by International Macquarie University Research Training Program (iMQRTP) Scholarship. Her Ph.D. research focuses on building a virtual intelligent agent/embodied conversational agent founded on psychological theories and artificial intelligence techniques to support patients in changing their behaviours to healthier ones or adhere to their treatment plans.

Amal achieved her master’s degree by research from University Sains Malaysia, Penang-Malaysia, in image processing and affective computing and Bachelor degree from Hodeidah University, Yemen. Her interest lies in the area of artificial intelligence and affective computing. In particular, she is interested in modelling the human perception process of verbal and non-verbal social cues toward building more social and believable agents.
